Description
The King Beneath the Hill for Chivalry & Sorcery
The King Beneath the Hill is a beginner adventure for Chivalry & Sorcery 5th Edition.
The Barony of Esca is a wild area, fringed by great troll-haunted forests and wastelands, and steeped in legend. Lord Caradoc, the King’s cousin and first Baron of Esca, has carved a territory out of the wastes. Yet strange and unnatural prodigies still occur in Esca, albeit less frequently than in previous years. Many young hopefuls come to Lord Caradoc’s court in search of renown, and knighthood as there are still adventures to be had in Esca!
Centuries ago, people buried a king in a long barrow in the forests of what is now the Barony of Esca. The tomb lay undisturbed until a few weeks ago, when a disgraced minstrel stumbled across it on the way from the court. In the weeks that followed farmers and villagers have been vanishing. It is up to the adventurers to investigate and resolve the cause of the disappearances. This adventure is for beginning-level characters, with humans and warriors in the majority. Characters start the adventure with only their initial weapons and equipment, but those without horses are loaned normal riding horses by Lord Caradoc, the adventurers’ liege lord.

An introduction to Chivalry and Sorcery 5th Edition
Fifth Edition truly is the definitive edition of Chivalry and Sorcery. Players create well-rounded characters who really feel like they belong to their world. Knights wield secular power and command the battlefield, while other warriors strive to win their spurs in combat and rise to join their ranks. Magick is deep and mysterious, drawing on real-world historical detail, while Priests utter prayers and call upon the very miracles of their gods! You decide the level of magic and fantasy for your game. Run a medieval high fantasy game filled with magic, miracles and myth, – or one of gritty, low fantasy, or even pure historical simulation. The choice is yours! From fairy-tale romance to courtly love. From religious intrigue to brutal, bloody battle. Chivalry & Sorcery lets you play in just the Middle Ages you want.
