The Darkness Over Eaglescar
You Play With Fire, You Get Burned! The year is 1999. In a quiet area of north-east England known as Eaglescar, a woman going the by the name Eleanor X is attracting attention for her unusual activities. Eleanor X is not just another person in town; she has been working hard to bring people into a group that many refer to as a cult. This cult, called The Voice In The Machine, seems to capture the minds and hearts of those who join, promising them a sense of belonging and understanding. However, there are growing concerns about the true nature of this group and the influence it has on its members.
Among those worried is a close friend of a group of investigators. This friend has a daughter named Cassandra, known to her family as Cassie. Recently, Cassie has become involved with The Voice In The Machine, and her behavior has changed dramatically. She appears excited and eager about her new life with the cult, which has sparked fear and alarm in her family. What is particularly concerning is Cassie’s apparent desire to cut off all connections with her parents and friends, isolating herself from the people who care about her the most.
The investigators, driven by their concern for Cassie, feel a strong sense of urgency to step in and try to help. They know that Eleanor X has a powerful hold over her followers, and the situation feels increasingly dangerous. As they confront the challenge of saving Cassie, they are aware of the potential risks involved, not just for her, but also for themselves. The gripping question looms over them: can they break the spell that Eleanor X has cast on Cassie and bring her back to her family before it is too late?
In this tangled web of relationships and dark influences, the stakes are high. Destiny and doom seem intertwined, and as they venture into this troubled situation, the investigators must tread carefully. It is important to note that the themes explored in this narrative are complex and mature, intended for an audience that possesses a certain level of understanding and maturity.
What is Call of Cthulhu?
Call of Cthulhu is a classic tabletop role-playing game of mystery and cosmic horror where players take on the roles of ordinary people becoming investigators of the unknown to combat the terrifying forces of the Cthulhu Mythos. Set mostly in the 1920s, the game uses a dice-based Basic Roleplaying System (BRP) where players attempt to succeed at tasks by rolling under a skill percentage, and where too much exposure to the horrors of the Mythos can lead to a loss of sanity. One player acts as the “Keeper” (Game Master), guiding the story and presenting the challenges, while the other players create unique investigators from various walks of life to face these ancient, sanity-blasting entities.
Darkness over Eaglescar is for 7th Edition Call of Cthulhu in The Modern Era.
