What is Red Borg?

The Red Borg roleplaying game casts you as revolutionaries fighting against the powers that be. Characters play through historical revolutions like the soviet one, or through fictional events set in the present, past, or future. Would you like to fight against the conquest of Venus, for example?

The missions you undertake can be set in cities, where secret organisations scheme and move in the shadows where the powerful cannot see, or on the open field of battle, among epic clashes and conquests.

The system lends itself to playing both action-oriented campaigns, or ones full of subterfuge and investigations. The choice is entirely in the GM’s hands… or should we say, the Supreme Soviet’s hands.

You are a Nobody.

The nation is governed by a powerful elite of industrialists, landlords, bureaucrats and politicians. Those who attempt to stand up to these “leaders” are either arrested or killed. The people are hungry while workers crawl like worms towards their gargantuan factories, physical and metaphorical meat grinders. The youth is sent as cannon fodder to the front, without even knowing why.

And while we die, the capitalist fat cats get fatter.

There are no alternatives, it is time for revolution.

Red Borg is a game about those that fan the flames of Revolution: idealists, dreamers, the desperate, the cornered, the rebels, those with nothing to lose, those with no other choice, and those who are all of these things at once.

Adventures can be set in the world you’ll find within the manual, or in a real-life revolution such as the birth of the Soviet Union, the Cuban revolution, the Spanish or the Chinese civil wars, or in a revolution that is yet to happen.

Not all revolutions are equal, some take place on battlefields, others in cities. Red Borg covers a wide variety of situations, from covert organizations to people’s protests, from field battles by revolutionary armies to the conquest of cities. Whether you’re helping a group of workers rise up against business owners or defending a city from a warlord attack, you are contributing to the revolution.
