Extinguish the Sun is a chapbook for the Troika! science fantasy role-playing game, featuring art by Alain Gruetter, in a limited edition print release. Published by Apollyon Press.

Extinguish the Sun is a collection of backgrounds and other miscellany detailing a new setting for Troika! very loosely inspired by pop culture. Pulling from sources as varied as Planet of the Apes, Frasier, and Ghostbusters, it aims to be both evocative and original in its takes on pop culture archetypes. All drawn in the wonderful Copic markers of Alain Gruetter, who illustrated the entire project.

Extinguish the Sun is a 32-page, full-color zine with a 170gsm interior and 250gsm cover. It is printed entirely on recycled paper.

What is Troika!?

Troika! is a science-fantasy tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) known for its surreal, dreamlike setting, simple mechanics, and open-ended play style. Created by Daniel Sell and published by the Melsonian Arts Council, Troika! draws inspiration from British fantasy of the 1970s and ’80s—think Michael Moorcock, Terry Gilliam, and the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks.

Troika! uses a rules-light game system focusing on story rather than mechanics. It’s system agnostic and works for any genre of RPG the players and GM desire.
