HandyMaps Dungeons, Caves, and Strange Locales
HandyMaps: Dungeons, Caves, and Strange Locations is 26 cards printed to A5 (210x148mm or 5.85″x8.27″) on 350gsm uncoated paper. They’re a perfect accessory for GMs needing an encounter location on-the-fly, or wanting to quickly create a monster lair as a campaign fixture.
Each of the 26 cards shows beautifully illustrated locations for fantasy themed games with a total of 63 encounter sites. MonkeyBlood Design features some of these maps in its Midderlands products, making them particularly useful for Midderlands-themed campaigns while remaining suitable for any fantasy RPG.
Also in the HandyMaps series:
- HandyMaps: Towns and Villages
- HandyMaps: Buildings & Structures
- HandyMaps: Deluxe Box set
- HandyMaps: A5 Storage Box (supplied empty)
What is The Midderlands?
The Midderlands is a game setting with bestiary for use with old-school role-playing games. The setting, based on Swords & Wizardry Complete, works easily with other old-school systems like Castles & Crusades and even non-OSR systems like D&D or Pathfinder.
It is a green-hued, dark-fantasy, late-middle ages, early-renaissance view through grime-smeared spectacles. The setting itself is based on the area in the centre of England where the author lives called The Midlands. Many of the locations are loosely based on reality, but others are pure fantasy from an addled mind.
The setting part of the book contains something the author calls “game-juice”. Not heavy of history and monotonous detail, but enough to get the game-juices flowing and let the Game Master twist and tweak as they need to in order to fit their campaign.
