Creag Hill – An adventure for Chivalry & Sorcery

Creag Hill is an adventure of investigation for Chivalry & Sorcery 5th Edition. Taking place in Somerset in the Year of our Lord 1184, this tale is rooted in a real local legend. It is suitable for characters of mixed vocations between 1st and 4th level.

Creag HillAdventure Module

The tale begins while the characters are resting at a friend’s manor house in rural Somerset. The Town Constable shatters the tranquillity of their evening meal, banging on the manor’s door as if the Devil himself were hounding him!

This adventure deals with the sudden mental decline of a local knight, Sir Stephen, Lord of Briwtun (Bruton). The heroes investigate why he rode out to a nearby hill to capture a group of bandits, and the sudden disappearance of the knights who accompanied him.

In their investigation of the madness of Sir Stephen, the heroes investigate the strange affliction of a trusted lord. What follows pitches them against brigands and a creature of legend which has haunted the land for centuries.

Having a character with noble status makes life easier in this quest, but it is not absolutely necessary. The adventure takes place in Somerset during the late 12th century, but a GM can easily transpose it to any campaign world with little effort.

Historical NoteCreag Hill Mausoleum

The black guardian of Creag Hill is a real legend in Somerset, England. The temple no longer stands on the hill, and its foundations are not visible, but archaeologists have discovered that people used the hill until at least Saxon times.

Bruton Museum displays some of the finds, and you can get more information about the legend by contacting: https://www.brutonmuseum.org.uk
